Equipment

  • Serving Glass
  • Muddler (or back of a spoon)
  • Spoon or long straw

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh strawberries sliced, ripe and juicy
  • 2 cups lemon-lime soda e.g., Sprite or 7UP, thoroughly chilled
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • 1 tbsp strawberry syrup optional, for extra flavor and sweetness
  • fresh strawberries for garnish

Instructions

  • Step 1: Prepare Your Strawberries: Give the fresh strawberries a good rinse and slice them up. Place a few sliced strawberries into your serving glass. Using a muddler (or the back of a spoon), gently press and twist the strawberries to coax out their juices without mashing them into a pulp.
  • Step 2: Add Your Ice: Fill your serving glass about halfway with ice cubes, leaving enough room for the soda and other ingredients.
  • Step 3: Pour in the Soda: Slowly pour the chilled lemon-lime soda over the ice and muddled strawberries. Watch as the clear soda turns a lovely pink hue. Leave a little space at the top.
  • Step 4: Sweeten (Optional): If desired, drizzle in the tablespoon of strawberry syrup for extra sweetness and bolder strawberry flavor. Give it a gentle stir with a spoon or a long straw to combine everything beautifully.
  • Step 5: Garnish and Serve: Add a whole fresh strawberry on the rim of the glass or a few more sliced ones directly into the drink for garnish. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

Substitutions & Additions: Customize with different fruits like raspberries, blueberries, pineapple, or mango. Try muddling fresh mint or adding a squeeze of fresh lime juice. Swap lemon-lime soda for ginger ale, club soda with a splash of fruit juice, or sparkling water for a lighter version. For an adult twist, add a shot of vodka, white rum, or strawberry liqueur. Tips for Success: Ensure all ingredients, especially the soda, are thoroughly chilled for the most refreshing drink. Gently muddle strawberries to release juices; avoid over-muddling. Adjust sweetness with syrup to your taste. Storage: This drink is best enjoyed immediately to preserve its fizz. For parties, pre-slice strawberries and keep soda and ice separate, assembling each drink fresh as needed.
