Equipment

  • Clear Glasses (Tall)
  • Shallow Dish or Plate

Ingredients

  • 2 cups orange soda chilled
  • 4 scoops vanilla ice cream
  • whipped cream store-bought or homemade
  • Halloween sprinkles
  • candy corn
  • corn syrup or a little frosting, for decorating glass rims (optional)

Instructions

  • Step 1: Decorate Glasses. Grab your clear, tall glasses. To make sprinkles stick, gently dip the rim of each glass into a shallow dish of corn syrup or frosting, then immediately dip into a plate of Halloween sprinkles. Give it a gentle twist and lift.
  • Step 2: Add Ice Cream. Carefully drop two generous scoops of vanilla ice cream into each decorated cup.
  • Step 3: Pour Soda. Slowly pour the chilled orange soda over the ice cream. It will fizz and bubble up, creating a classic float effect. Pour until the foam reaches just about the top of the glass.
  • Step 4: Garnish and Serve. Add a generous swirl of whipped cream on top, then scatter a few extra Halloween sprinkles and a couple of candy corn pieces. Serve immediately.

Notes

Substitutions & Additions: Try root beer, ginger ale, or cream soda instead of orange soda. Swap vanilla ice cream for pumpkin spice or orange sherbet. For an adult version, add a splash of vanilla vodka or orange liqueur. Enhance with caramel or chocolate syrup, maraschino cherries, or a pinch of cinnamon. For a lighter option, use diet orange soda and reduced-fat ice cream.
Tips for Success: Ensure orange soda is very cold for maximum fizz. Tall glasses look best and allow for good fizz. Pour soda slowly down the side of the glass to prevent overflow. You can decorate glasses ahead of time. Get creative with garnishes like chocolate syrup spiderwebs or gummy worms.
Storage: Pumpkin Floats are best enjoyed immediately. Do not store assembled floats; the soda will go flat, and the ice cream will melt. Store individual ingredients separately (soda in fridge, ice cream in freezer, sprinkles/candy in pantry).
