Ingredients
  

For the Maple Cookies

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

For the Maple Icing

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 1-2 tablespoons milk

Instructions
 

  • Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Step 2: In a bowl, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Step 3: Add the maple syrup, egg, and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
  • Step 4: In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Step 5: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until a soft dough forms.
  • Step 6: Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough, roll into balls, and place on the baking sheets about 2 inches apart.
  • Step 7: Bake for 10–12 minutes until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Step 8: Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a rack to cool completely.
  • Step 9: For the icing, whisk powdered sugar, maple syrup, and milk until smooth.
  • Step 10: Drizzle or spread the icing over the cooled cookies and let it set before serving.

Notes

Use pure maple syrup for the best flavor. Do not overbake to keep cookies soft and tender. Let cookies cool completely before icing.
