Equipment

  • Oven
  • Baking sheet
  • Bowl

Ingredients

  • 1 lb frozen French fries I prefer the crinkle-cut kind for extra surface area!
  • 2 cups cooked chicken shredded - Rotisserie chicken is a lifesaver here!
  • 1 cup smoky BBQ sauce Go for your favorite brand, the smokier the better!
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Sharp cheddar is my go-to, but you can experiment!
  • 0.5 cup ranch dressing Creamy and cool, it cuts through the richness of the BBQ and cheese.
  • 0.25 cup sliced jalapeños optional - For those who like a little kick!
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro Adds a fresh, vibrant pop of flavor and color.

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). This is crucial for perfectly crispy fries.
  • Bake the French fries according to the package directions until they're golden brown and crispy (usually around 20-25 minutes). Don't overcrowd the pan for even cooking!
  • While the fries are baking, combine the shredded chicken and smoky BBQ sauce in a bowl. Mix it well so every piece of chicken is coated.
  • Once the fries are cooked, transfer them to a baking sheet. Top them evenly with the BBQ chicken mixture and then generously sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese.
  • Bake for another 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and slightly golden. Watch it carefully so it doesn't burn!
  • Drizzle with ranch dressing, add jalapeños if you're using them, and garnish with fresh cilantro. A sprinkle of extra BBQ sauce is never a bad idea either!
  • Serve immediately and enjoy the cheesy, smoky, ranch-y goodness!

Notes

Feeling creative? Try swapping the cheddar for Monterey Jack, pepper jack, or a blend. Bacon bits would be amazing here! You could also add some caramelized onions for extra sweetness. Honestly, these are best enjoyed fresh out of the oven. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days, but reheating might slightly diminish the crispiness.
