Instructions

  • Melt the white candy melts according to package directions.
  • Dip each chilled cake ball in the melted white candy melts, ensuring they’re fully coated. Place them back on the parchment paper.

  • Sprinkle immediately with red and green sanding sugar.
  • Allow the candy coating to set completely before serving or storing.

Notes

Feel free to get creative! Instead of red and green sanding sugar, try sprinkles, chopped nuts, or even mini chocolate chips. You could also use different colored candy melts for a unique look. For a more intense chocolate flavor, add a tablespoon or two of melted semi-sweet chocolate to the cake and cream cheese mixture. Make sure your cream cheese is completely softened for easy mixing. Don't overmix the cake and cream cheese mixture; you want some texture. Chill the cake balls thoroughly before dipping to prevent the candy melts from melting too quickly. Work quickly when dipping and sprinkling to prevent the candy melts from setting up before you're finished. For a head start, you can crumble the cakes and make the dough a day ahead and store it, covered, in the refrigerator.
