  • Mixing bowls
  • Hand mixer or whisk
  • Knife
  • Spoon or Piping Bag

Ingredients

For the Rolls

  • 1 package Hawaiian sweet rolls 12 rolls
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter melted, for greasing the dish

For the Cinnamon Butter

  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg

For the Cheesecake Filling

  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg lightly beaten

Instructions

  • Step 1: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush 1 tablespoon melted butter on the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • Step 2: Place the Hawaiian sweet rolls in the prepared dish. Using a knife, cut a deep “X” on top of each roll without slicing all the way through.
  • Step 3: In a bowl, mix 1/3 cup melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well combined.
  • Step 4: Pour the cinnamon butter mixture evenly over the rolls, allowing it to seep into the cuts.
  • Step 5: In another bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Add the granulated sugar and lightly beaten egg, then mix until creamy.
  • Step 6: Spoon or pipe the cream cheese mixture into the cuts on top of each roll.
  • Step 7: Bake for 12–15 minutes until the rolls are lightly golden and the cheesecake filling is set.
  • Step 8: Allow the rolls to cool for 5–10 minutes before serving warm.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a splash of vanilla extract or lemon zest to the cheesecake filling. You can also drizzle the baked rolls with powdered sugar glaze or caramel sauce for a more indulgent dessert-style version.
