Ingredients
  

For the Kahlúa and Cream Cocktail

  • 1 oz Kahlúa coffee liqueur or other coffee liqueur like Tia Maria
  • 1.5 oz cold cream heavy cream preferred; can substitute half-and-half or cream alternative
  • ice cubes enough to fill the rocks glass

Instructions
 

  • Step 1: Fill a rocks glass completely with ice cubes, preferably large fresh cubes.
  • Step 2: Pour the Kahlúa coffee liqueur over the ice, letting it settle as the dark base.
  • Step 3: Slowly pour the cold cream over the back of a spoon or down the side of the glass to create a layered effect with the cream floating on top.
  • Step 4: Serve immediately without stirring or stir lightly if desired to blend flavors before drinking.

Notes

Chill your glass beforehand for a colder drink. Use cold cream straight from the fridge for best layering. Try adding a shot of espresso or a dash of cinnamon or nutmeg for variation. For a dessert twist, top with vanilla ice cream. Store Kahlúa in a cool dark place for up to 5 years unopened; use cream within 5-7 days after opening. Do not premix cocktail as cream will separate.
