Equipment

  • Rocks glass
  • Shallow dish
  • Cocktail shaker (or jar with tight-fitting lid)

Ingredients

  • 3 oz grape juice enchanting base
  • 2 oz lemon-lime soda bubbly magic
  • 1 oz simple syrup liquid sugar, or make your own
  • 1 oz orange juice splash of sunny citrus
  • 0.5 oz lime juice freshly squeezed for zesty zing
  • black sugar for rimming, creates dramatic edible decoration
  • orange slices for garnish and moistening rim
  • red grapes optional garnish, for spooky 'eyeball' look
  • ice for chilling

Instructions

  • Step 1: Rim Your Glass: Pour black sugar into a shallow dish. Take an orange slice and gently run it around the rim of your rocks glass to moisten it. Then, dip the rim of the glass into the black sugar, twisting it slightly to get an even, dramatic coating. Set this gorgeous, prepped glass aside.
  • Step 2: Add the Ice: Fill your beautifully rimmed glass with ice. This ensures your mocktail will be perfectly chilled and refreshing.
  • Step 3: Combine the Liquids: Grab a cocktail shaker (if you don't have one, a jar with a tight-fitting lid works wonders!). Fill it with ice, then pour in the grape juice, orange juice, simple syrup, and lime juice.
  • Step 4: Shake It Up: Secure the lid on your shaker and give it a good, vigorous shake. You want everything thoroughly mixed and super chilled – about 15-20 seconds should do the trick. You’ll feel the outside of the shaker get frosty!
  • Step 5: Strain into Glass: Carefully strain the shaken juice mixture from the shaker into your prepared, ice-filled glass. Watch that vibrant color flow!
  • Step 6: Top with Fizz: Now for the bubbles! Gently top off your drink with the lemon-lime soda. This keeps the fizz nice and lively.
  • Step 7: Garnish for Ghoulishness: Add an orange slice to the rim or inside the glass. If you're going for extra spooky points, drop in a few red grapes – they look delightfully like floating eyeballs!
  • Step 8: Serve Immediately: Give it a gentle stir and serve your bewitching Halloween Mocktail right away. Enjoy the compliments!

Notes

Tips for Success: Chill all ingredients (juices and soda) beforehand for a more refreshing mocktail and less dilution from ice. When rimming, don't overload the rim with juice; a light, even coating is key for a professional look. For large parties, you can multiply the grape juice, orange juice, simple syrup, and lime juice ingredients and mix them in a pitcher ahead of time (keep refrigerated). When serving, simply pour over ice in rimmed glasses and top with lemon-lime soda. Use clear glasses, fun straws, or festive stirrers for enhanced presentation.
Storage: Store unmixed juices and simple syrup separately in airtight containers in the refrigerator for several days to a week. The mixed base (grape, orange, simple, and lime juices) can be prepared up to 24 hours in advance and stored in an airtight pitcher in the fridge. Once lemon-lime soda is added, the mocktail is best consumed immediately to maintain its fizz and flavor.
