Equipment

  • Grill or grill pan
  • Tongs
  • Pastry Brush

Ingredients

For the Grilled Peaches

  • 2 ripe peaches ripe but still a little firm, sliced in half with pits removed
  • 1 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 0.5 tsp ground cinnamon

For Serving

  • 1 pint vanilla ice cream
  • 2 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • crushed nuts pecans or walnuts, optional
  • whipped cream optional
  • fresh mint leaves for garnish

Instructions

  • Step 1: Fire up your grill or grill pan over medium heat until nice and hot.
  • Step 2: While the grill heats, slice the peaches in half and remove the pits. Brush the cut sides of each peach half with melted butter.
  • Step 3: Sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon evenly over the buttered, cut sides of the peaches.
  • Step 4: Carefully place the prepared peach halves, cut-side down, onto the preheated grill. Grill for about 3 to 5 minutes until grill marks appear and peaches start softening.
  • Step 5: Use tongs to gently flip the peaches over. Grill for just another 1 to 2 minutes on the skin side to warm through and caramelize further.
  • Step 6: Remove the peaches from the grill and let them cool slightly for a minute or two.
  • Step 7: Place each warm, grilled peach half into a serving bowl. Top generously with a scoop (or two) of cold vanilla ice cream.
  • Step 8: Drizzle with honey or maple syrup. Add optional crushed nuts, whipped cream, and a mint leaf for garnish. Serve immediately.

Notes

Ensure peaches are ripe but slightly firm for best results. Don't over-grill to avoid mushiness. Use clean grill grates and watch the brown sugar to prevent burning. Other fruits like nectarines or plums can be used. Swap brown sugar for granulated or omit for a sugar-free option relying on the drizzle. Coconut oil or vegan butter can replace butter for a vegan version (use vegan ice cream/whipped cream). Add nutmeg or cardamom for extra spice. Other toppings like granola, caramel/chocolate sauce, or toasted coconut are great additions. While best fresh, leftover grilled peaches can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days and eaten cold or gently rewarmed. Do not store assembled sundaes.
