Equipment

  • Medium saucepan
  • Candy thermometer
  • Toothpicks
  • Parchment paper

Ingredients

Galaxy Grapes Ingredients

  • 2 cups seedless grapes green or red, fresh and firm
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract adds subtle warmth to the coating
  • to taste gel food coloring blue, purple, pink
  • to taste edible glitter or luster dust for shimmering cosmic sparkle

Instructions

  • Step 1: Wash and dry the grapes thoroughly to help the candy coating stick. Skewer each grape onto a toothpick for easy dipping.
  • Step 2: In a medium saucepan, combine granulated sugar, light corn syrup, and water. Heat over medium, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves.
  • Step 3: Bring the mixture to 300°F (hard crack stage) using a candy thermometer, then remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  • Step 4: Divide hot candy syrup into small bowls. Add gel food coloring to each and stir until colors are vibrant and uniform.
  • Step 5: Quickly dip each grape by the toothpick into the colored candy syrup, fully coating it. Dip twice if needed for full coverage.
  • Step 6: While the coating is still tacky, sprinkle edible glitter or luster dust over the grapes for the galaxy sparkle effect.
  • Step 7: Place coated grapes on parchment paper and allow to cool and set completely, about 15 to 20 minutes before enjoying or gifting.

Notes

Store Galaxy Grapes in a single layer in an airtight container at room temperature or in a cool spot to maintain crisp candy coating. Enjoy within 24 to 48 hours for best texture and flavor.
Substitutions: Try blueberries or blackberries for a berry galaxy bite; use almond or coconut extract instead of vanilla for different flavors; add metallic food paints or mix silver and gold luster dust for a starry effect; drizzle melted chocolate over cooled grapes for a cosmic drizzle.
