Cook Time 12 minutes

Equipment

  • Oven
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Pizza cutter or knife
  • Food processor Optional, for crushing Doritos
  • Rolling Pin Optional, for crushing Doritos

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 can refrigerated pizza dough
  • 0.5 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 0.5 cup mini pepperoni slices
  • 0.5 cup cooked crumbled sausage mild Italian sausage recommended
  • 0.5 cup crushed Nacho Cheese Doritos
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter optional, for brushing

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Unroll the pizza dough and cut it into about 12 equal pieces.
  • Spread a small spoonful (about a teaspoon) of pizza sauce in the center of each dough piece, leaving a small border around the edges.
  • On top of the sauce on each piece, add a tiny spoonful of cooked crumbled sausage, a few mini pepperoni slices, and a sprinkle of shredded mozzarella cheese. Do not overfill.
  • Carefully fold one side of the dough over the filling to meet the other side. Pinch the edges tightly all the way around to seal everything inside.
  • If using the melted butter, brush the tops and sides of each roll lightly. Then, gently press the tops of the rolls into your bowl of crushed Doritos to coat them.
  • Place the coated rolls onto the prepared baking sheet, making sure the Doritos side is facing up. Leave a little space between them.
  • Bake for 12–15 minutes, until golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for just a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Tips for Success:
- Don't Overfill: Too much filling makes them hard to seal and can cause leaks.
- Pinch Tightly: Spend a little extra time really crimping those edges closed for a good seal.
- Fine Crumbs: Make sure your Doritos are crushed into relatively fine crumbs for best coating.
- Optional Butter Brush: If you skip the butter, the Doritos might not stick quite as well, but they'll still get some crunch.
- Watch the Bake Time: Ovens vary! Start checking around 10-11 minutes, especially if your oven runs hot.
Substitutions & Additions:
- Veggies: Add finely chopped sautéed mushrooms, onions, bell peppers, or spinach (squeeze out excess water).
- Different Meat: Swap sausage for cooked ground beef, diced cooked chicken, or make them meatless.
- Cheese: Mix in shredded cheddar, provolone, or Parmesan.
- Spice: Add red pepper flakes or use spicy sausage.
- Dip: Serve with extra pizza sauce, ranch, garlic butter, or cheese sauce.
- Other Chips: Try coating with Cool Ranch Doritos, Cheetos, or plain tortilla chips (though the classic crunch is key!).
Storage Instructions:
- Let cool completely.
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
- Reheat in a toaster oven or conventional oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5-10 minutes until heated through and crispy. Microwaving is faster but may result in less crunch.
Make Ahead:
You can assemble them and store covered in the fridge for a few hours before baking, but baking them fresh is best for maximum crunch.
