Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Oven
  • Oven-Safe Serving Dish

Ingredients

  • 1 lb thinly sliced steak ribeye or sirloin recommended
  • 1 tsp garlic salt
  • ½ tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 green bell pepper sliced
  • 1 onion sliced
  • 8-10 slices White American cheese
  • 20 oz Quick Cook Waffle Cut Fries bag
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  • Step 1: Preheat your oven according to the directions on your bag of Quick Cook Waffle Cut Fries. Pop 'em in and bake until they are golden brown and wonderfully crispy. Once they're done, pull them out and keep them warm.
  • Step 2: While the fries are doing their thing, grab a large skillet and heat that tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat.
  • Step 3: Carefully add your thinly sliced steak to the hot skillet. Season it generously with the garlic salt and black pepper. Cook the steak for just 3-5 minutes, using your spatula or spoon to break up any larger pieces. Once it's done, remove the steak from the skillet and set it aside in a bowl.
  • Step 4: Using that same skillet, add your sliced green bell pepper and onion. Turn the heat down a little to medium. Cook the veggies, stirring occasionally, for about 7-10 minutes, until softened and slightly caramelized.
  • Step 5: Return the cooked steak to the skillet with the softened peppers and onions. Give everything a good stir to combine and let it heat through together for just 1-2 minutes.
  • Step 6: Spread your crispy, warm fries onto an oven-safe serving dish or individual plates in a nice even layer.
  • Step 7: Spoon the steak and vegetable mixture evenly over the fries.
  • Step 8: Top the steak and veggie mixture with your slices of White American cheese.
  • Step 9: To get that perfect melt, pop the dish under the broiler for 1-2 minutes (watching closely), or rely on residual heat if the fries and topping are hot enough.
  • Step 10: Serve immediately, enjoyed hot and fresh.

Notes

Tips for Success: Thin steak is KEY. Don't overcrowd the pan when cooking steak to ensure browning. Crispy fries are a must – follow package directions. Watch the broiler closely if using. You can slice peppers and onions ahead.
How to Store It: Store leftover steak/veggie mixture and fries separately in airtight containers in the fridge for 2-3 days. Reheat fries in the oven/air fryer for crispness, reheat steak mixture in a skillet/microwave, then combine and top with fresh cheese to melt.
