Equipment

  • Medium bowl
  • Slotted spoon
  • Whisk
  • Shot Glasses

Ingredients

  • 1 package gummy worms your favorite multi-colored pack
  • 1 cup vodka decent mid-range
  • 1 cup pineapple juice 100% juice
  • 1 cup coconut cream canned, not light coconut milk
  • 1 tbsp grenadine for color and sweetness
  • 1 tbsp lime juice freshly squeezed if possible
  • 1 tbsp shredded coconut for garnish, optional

Instructions

  • Step 1: Place gummy worms in a medium bowl. Pour vodka over them, ensuring they are completely submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 24 hours, or until they have soaked up most of the vodka and are swollen.
  • Step 2: Use a slotted spoon to remove the vodka-infused gummy worms from the bowl, allowing excess liquid to drip off. Set aside.
  • Step 3: In a separate bowl, whisk together pineapple juice, coconut cream, grenadine, and lime juice until smooth and well combined.
  • Step 4: Place one whole or a couple of halved gummy worms in the bottom of each shot glass.
  • Step 5: Carefully pour the tropical mixture into each shot glass, filling them about three-quarters full.
  • Step 6: If using, sprinkle shredded coconut on top of each shot as garnish.
  • Step 7: Refrigerate the assembled shots for at least 30 minutes to chill thoroughly before serving.

Notes

The gummy worms require a soak time of at least 24 hours to absorb the vodka; use dense, firm gummies for best results. Thoroughly chilling the assembled shots for at least 30 minutes before serving is essential for optimal flavor and texture. You can make the vodka worms up to a week in advance and store them separately in an airtight container in the fridge. The liquid base can also be made a day ahead. Assembled shots are best enjoyed within 2-3 days, stored covered in the refrigerator. You can substitute vodka with white rum, coconut rum, or tequila. For a non-alcoholic version, skip the vodka soak and use regular gummy worms, filling glasses with only the juice and coconut cream mixture. Ensure coconut cream is well-whisked for a smooth mixture.
