Equipment

  • Medium bowl
  • Food processor or blender
  • Spoon or spatula

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cottage cheese 4% milkfat recommended
  • 1 tbsp ranch seasoning mix
  • 2 tbsp buttermilk optional, for smoother consistency

Instructions

  • Step 1: Choose your desired texture: For a chunky dip, use a medium bowl. For a silky-smooth dip, use a food processor or high-powered blender.
  • Step 2: Add the cottage cheese and ranch seasoning mix to your chosen vessel. If making a smooth dip, add the buttermilk now.
  • Step 3: If using a bowl, stir thoroughly with a spoon or spatula until ingredients are evenly distributed. If using a processor/blender, process for 30-60 seconds until completely smooth. Watch blending times closely to avoid over-thinning.
  • Step 4: Taste and adjust seasonings or consistency as needed. If too thick, add a splash more buttermilk or milk. Transfer to a serving dish and serve immediately, or chill for later.

Notes

For best flavor, chill the dip for at least 30 minutes before serving. If using a blender/processor, blend for 30-60 seconds to avoid over-thinning.
You can use low-fat or fat-free cottage cheese, though 4% milkfat offers the creamiest result. If buttermilk is unavailable, use regular milk or water. Customize with fresh herbs, garlic, hot sauce, lemon juice, or extra cheese. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days; stir before serving.
