Equipment

  • Medium bowl
  • Whisk
  • Plastic egg-shaped containers or silicone egg molds
  • Egg carton or muffin tin

Ingredients

  • 1 (3 ounce) package flavored gelatin strawberry, lemon, or blue raspberry are my favorites!
  • 1 cup boiling water Makes sure it's really boiling for proper gelatin dissolving.
  • ½ cup vodka or rum, tequila, or your favorite liquor! Adjust the amount depending on your preferred strength.
  • ½ cup cold water Helps regulate the temperature and the setting process.
  • 12 plastic egg-shaped containers or silicone egg molds
  • Whipped cream and sprinkles optional, For an extra touch of fun and festiveness!

Instructions

  • Pierce a small hole in the top of each plastic egg mold (if using). This helps with air release and prevents cracking. Place molds upright in an egg carton or muffin tin for stability.
  • In a medium bowl, dissolve the gelatin in the boiling water until completely smooth. I like to use a whisk to make sure there are no lumps.
  • Stir in the cold water and your chosen liquor. Mix everything thoroughly until well combined.
  • Carefully pour the mixture into the molds, filling almost to the top. Leave a tiny bit of space to prevent overflow.
  • Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until completely set. Patience is key here!
  • Once set, gently remove the Jello shots from the molds. A quick dip in warm water for a few seconds can help if they're sticking.
  • Garnish with whipped cream and sprinkles, if desired. Get creative!

Notes

Feel free to experiment! Liquor Swap: Use any liquor you like! Gin, bourbon, even a flavored liqueur would be delicious. Flavor Boost: Add a splash of juice (cranberry, orange) for an extra layer of flavor. Fruity Fun: Incorporate small pieces of fresh fruit into the mixture before chilling. Garnish Extravaganza: Try chocolate shavings, edible glitter, or even mini gummy candies.
