- 1 cup limeade
- 0.5 tsp sriracha sauce adjust to your personal spice level
- 2 oz tequila your favorite blanco or reposado
- Ice
- Salt for rimming, coarse salt or margarita salt works best
- fresh blueberries for garnish
Step 1: In a blender, combine fresh blueberries, limeade, and sriracha sauce. Blend until super smooth and uniform.
Step 2: Pour in the tequila and give it a quick pulse to combine.
Step 3: Prepare your margarita glass by running a lime wedge around the rim.
Step 4: Dip the rim into a plate of salt, pressing gently and twisting to get an even coating.
Step 5: Fill the rimmed glass to the brim with ice.
Step 6: Pour the blueberry sriracha mixture over the ice and stir gently to chill.
Step 7: Garnish with a few fresh blueberries and serve immediately.
Make it your own: Experiment with different berries like raspberries or strawberries, or swap limeade for fresh lime juice and agave. For a smoky twist, try mezcal instead of tequila. Consider adding fresh mint or basil for an herbal infusion, or a sweet & spicy rim with chili powder and sugar.
Tips for success: Adjust sriracha to your taste; start with ¼ tsp if unsure. Fresh blueberries yield the brightest flavor and most vibrant color. Avoid over-blending after adding tequila. Chill glasses beforehand for an extra frosty drink. To make a mocktail, simply omit the tequila.
Storage: The blueberry-sriracha-limeade base (without tequila) can be made 1-2 days in advance and stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Stir well before adding tequila and serving.
