Equipment

  • Oven or Grill
  • Baking Sheet (if using oven)
  • Parchment Paper (if using oven)
  • Small bowl
  • Whisk

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs salmon fillet skin-on or skin-off
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose seasoning mix

For the Bang Bang Sauce

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp sweet chili sauce
  • 1 clove fresh garlic grated
  • 1 tsp soy sauce

For Toppings and Sides

  • chili crisp for topping, optional but highly recommended
  • cooked rice for serving (e.g., white, brown, jasmine)
  • avocado cucumber salsa for serving

Instructions

  • Step 1: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) if baking, or fire up your grill to medium-high heat. If using the oven, line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  • Step 2: Pat the salmon fillet thoroughly dry with a paper towel. Sprinkle the all-purpose seasoning mix generously over the entire piece of salmon.
  • Step 3: In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, freshly grated garlic, and soy sauce until perfectly smooth and creamy. Taste and adjust if desired.
  • Step 4: Place the seasoned salmon on the prepared baking sheet or directly onto your clean grill grate. Cook until opaque throughout and flakes easily with a fork: 12-15 minutes in the oven, or 8-10 minutes on the grill. Avoid overcooking.
  • Step 5: Once cooked, gently remove the salmon from the heat. Generously drizzle the bang bang sauce all over the top. Sprinkle with chili crisp (optional) for extra flavor and crunch. Serve immediately alongside cooked rice and avocado cucumber salsa for a complete meal.

Notes

Make it your own with protein swaps like chicken, shrimp, or tofu, or add roasted veggies such as broccoli or asparagus for an easy one-pan meal. Adjust the spice level by adding red pepper flakes to the sauce or using less sweet chili sauce. For best results, always pat the salmon dry before seasoning and use fresh garlic for the sauce to enhance flavor. You can prepare the sauce a day or two in advance. Store any leftover Bang Bang Salmon and sauce in separate airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days; reheat gently in the microwave or oven (275°F/135°C) to avoid drying out.
