Equipment

  • Air fryer

Ingredients

  • 4 hot dogs beef, turkey, or plant-based
  • 4 hot dog buns
  • 8 slices American or cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter softened
  • ketchup, mustard, or relish optional

Instructions

  • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  • Open each bun and layer a slice of cheese on each side. Place a hot dog in the middle; add another cheese slice on top, if desired.
  • Spread softened butter on the outside of each bun.
  • Place the assembled hot dogs in the air fryer basket (cheese side in, buttered side out). If your air fryer basket is too small, cook them in batches to ensure even cooking.
  • Air fry for 5-6 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and gooey, and the buns are golden brown. Keep a close eye on them during the last minute to prevent burning.
  • Let them cool for 1-2 minutes before serving.
  • Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauces!

Notes

These are best enjoyed immediately! But if you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. You can reheat them in the air fryer for a minute or two to refresh them.
